Social Problems of the Hispanic Community in United States
The course deals with social problems in the contemporary United States. Historical perspective on the problems, their causes, public, and private problem-solving policies will be discussed. Topics include demographic problems, poverty, educational deprivation, crime, drugs and alcohol, and the problems of victims in the United States.
Principles of Sociology
This course is a compendium of SOCI 201-202. It studies the nature, development, and functions of social groups and institutions and how they affect individuals in their social interaction. It allows students to expand their general education and to deepen in their social knowledge, specifically in the field of sociology. To such effects, the student will extend his knowledge and will develop his/her skills and attitudes by studying principles of sociology, a critical thinking exercise, the application of sociological theories, and the analysis of social dynamics in general, in the United States and the world.
Research Techniques in Social Sciences
This course is designed to introduce the student to the skills and techniques of applied social science research methods. Writing the research purpose, hypothesizing, data collection and analysis, application of findings and conclusion will be emphasized.

Study of the civic, social, cultural, and psychological components of the individual in society. Emphasis will be given to the personal, interpersonal, and social dimensions.

Applied statistics is introductory to the field of statistical methodology. applicable to the field of social sciences. It provides an overview of descriptive and inferential statistics of greatest relevance to the field of social services.
Social Problems
This course will study, analyze and discuss social problems present in modern society. The focus of the topics to be discussed will be from a sociological perspective. Special attention will be given to the analysis of the effects that social problems have on each social institution.
Statistics Methods for Social Sciences
This course is an introduction to the statistical methodology as applied to social sciences. Basic statistical concepts and techniques are introduced. The course also emphasizes the scientific and graphical presentation of data, as well as its analysis.
